CropsBook stores all your data locally on your device. No farm data is ever uploaded to our servers. This guide covers how to back up and sync your data, customize the app to your workflow, and manage your account and preferences.

Opening Settings

Go to More → Settings to access all app preferences. From the Settings screen you can manage your theme, security, tab bar, calendar sync, data backup, subscription, and notifications.

Theme

CropsBook supports Dark, Light, and System themes. System mode automatically follows your device's appearance setting — switching to dark at night if you have that configured. Select your preferred mode in Settings → Theme.

App Lock

If your device has Face ID, Touch ID, or a passcode configured, you can enable App Lock in Settings → Security. When enabled, CropsBook requires biometric authentication every time you open the app — protecting your farm and financial records from unauthorized access.

App Lock is especially useful if you share your phone with family members or staff. Your financial data stays private even if someone else picks up the phone.

iCloud Backup & Sync

CropsBook can back up your farm data to your personal iCloud account. Go to Settings → Data Sync & Backup to configure:

  • iCloud backup — automatically backs up all your data to your iCloud account. This is the same iCloud that backs up your other iPhone data — it goes through Apple's infrastructure, not ours.
  • Sync across devices — if you use CropsBook on multiple devices (iPhone, iPad, Mac), iCloud sync keeps all devices up to date.
  • Data retention settings — configure how long to keep historical records.
Enable iCloud backup before making any major changes or before getting a new phone. Restoring from an iCloud backup after reinstalling the app brings all your crops, harvests, and records back.

Customizing the Tab Bar

The tab bar at the bottom of the screen can be customized to show the six features you use most. Go to Settings → Customize Tab Bar to choose which screens appear in your tab bar.

By default, the tabs are Dashboard, Crops, Beds, Harvests, Expenses, and More. You can swap any of these (except More) for other frequently used screens like Tasks, Revenue, Sales, or Seed Inventory.

Calendar Settings

Configure how CropsBook syncs events to your device calendar in Settings → Calendar Settings. PRO

You can enable or disable sync for each event type independently:

  • Planting dates
  • Expected harvest windows
  • Task due dates
  • Spray and treatment schedules

Profile Management

Tap your name or initials at the top of the More screen to open your Profile. From here you can update your name, farm name, and business name. These appear on reports and throughout the app.

Data Export

Export your farm data as CSV files from More → Analytics & Reports → Export Data. PRO

Exports are available for: crops, harvests, expenses, revenue, input logs, and more. CSV files open in any spreadsheet app. PDF reports can be shared directly to your accountant.

Subscription & Restore Purchases

Your subscription status is shown in Settings under Subscription. If you've previously purchased a Pro or Premium subscription on another device, tap Restore Purchases to restore your plan to the current device using the same Apple ID.

Notification Preferences

Go to More → Notifications to configure which alerts CropsBook sends you. You can control the alert categories (planting, harvest, tasks, pest alerts) and set quiet hours for notifications.
